    Thank you so very much for including the women’s perspective in a number of your podcasts. As a first generation Beatles fan what I remember was a sense of community in my school. Boys and girls could talk together about the group. Girls weren’t dismissed like we were with comic book discussions or baseball. And we actually knew more about the group because we read everything!! Among my girlfriends we would sit in our bedrooms at first trying to figure out which Beatle was singing (that didn’t take long after we heard them speak). Of course we had a favorite, but that was OK because the four of them were friends, too!

    The Beatles seemed to really get they had fans. You could join their club! And you got updates! I saved up allowance money to buy magazines and we wore our hair like Jane and Patti.

    Then we journeyed with them. Our fashion changed. My girlfriends and I DID feel like we didn’t have to be a nurse or a teacher (nothing wrong with those professions, it was just that they were the ones expected).

    I grieved when they broke up. Grieved. But, they have been in the fabric of my life. I’m so grateful that there are people like you and your guests that carry on their legacy and magic!

    I was enthralled with “Get Back” because it showed me again that they were mates and that they loved each other. And, that’s all you need.

      soo cool… enjoyed hearing about how it was at the time of the miracle. Its amazing how being a fan created more community between the boys and girls. I wish I had been there then and could be in the fan club too. I’m glad today we have podcasts like SATB for our fan club and community in a way. Shine on!!

      It’s called “Falling Now” and yes, by my old band, The Shindigs, circa 1991.
